Founded many years ago and run entirely by volunteers, Wrekin North Riding Club has built a strong reputation as a supportive and inclusive equestrian community in the region.
Throughout our history, we’ve operated as a “not-for-profit” organisation, reinvesting all surplus funds back into the club to benefit members and improve facilities.
Our core values are simple:
Encouragement and support for riders of all levels
A focus on horse welfare and good horsemanship
A relaxed, sociable environment where members can learn, develop, and make friends
Fun and opportunity for all, especially young riders just starting their equestrian journey
We aim to foster a love of all forms of riding and horse sport, helping members gain confidence, improve skills, and enjoy time with their equine friends.
Our club is entirely volunteer-led, with a dedicated committee elected annually from within the membership. Committee members bring a wide range of equestrian experience and enthusiasm — from show coordination to safeguarding, social media and event support — ensuring the club runs smoothly and continues to grow.
Beyond competition and training, Wrekin North is a community — a place where riders and families meet, share experiences, support each other, and celebrate achievements. Whether you’re aiming for competition success or just enjoy riding for fun, you’ll find a warm welcome here.
Wrekin North Riding Club organises a wide range of activities throughout the year, tailored to suit both beginners and experienced competitors:
🐴 Open Shows & Competitions: Held regularly from spring through autumn at Stirchley Showground with over 35 classes in disciplines including show jumping, working hunter, ridden and in-hand showing, plus fun mini classes for younger riders. Members accumulate points towards season championships and end-of-season trophies.
📅 Season Schedule: Shows typically run on Sundays from April to September, with dates published each year to help you plan your season.
🐎 Training & Clinics: Regular training sessions and clinics with experienced instructors help riders improve technique and confidence across a range of equestrian skills.
🌟 Qualifiers & Progression: Many classes include qualification opportunities, including for prestigious events such as Stars Aintree, enabling riders to take their success further afield.
🏕️ Spring Camp & Events: Special events like training camps offer focused riding improvement opportunities and a fun club experience for members.
